A garage door that has come off its track or has a bent or dented panel should not be opened again until a tech looks at it.
A garage door jumps the track for a reason, and the reason is still there after you force it back. That is why the pros we refer fix the cause (a bent roller, a cracked hinge, a dented track, a snapped cable) and not just the symptom.
Panel damage is the other half of this page. Somebody backed into the door, a kid's bike hit it, or a hailstorm came through Larimer County. Before you assume you need a whole new door, ask whether a single panel can be replaced. On most doors sold in the last 15 years, it can.
| Repair | Typical Fort Collins range |
|---|---|
| Door reset in track with roller and hinge replacement | $150 to $350 |
| Track section straightened or replaced | $120 to $300 |
| Single panel replacement, when available | $250 to $700 |
| Reinforcement strut added | $90 to $160 |
Panel availability drives the price. Current Clopay, Amarr and Wayne Dalton doors usually have matching panels in stock. Doors older than about 15 years often do not, and a new door becomes the better value.
Forcing an off track door with the opener bends more rollers and can pull the whole track off the wall. If a car is trapped inside, lift the door by hand with a second person and prop it, then stop.
